Fred, thanks for the info, but the Sales family isn’t what I am researching. I was just passing on information that I had. I am looking for the parents and siblings of John Adams b 1802 VA, married in 1826 Nancy Bell b 1802 in KY. My Adams family is very closely tied to Hugh Adams b 1775, married Eleanor Ellett, lived in KY, Monroe Co. IN and Putnam Co. IN. I believe that my John Adams 1802 is the son of Hugh 1775 and Eleanor Ellett. They had a son John born 1802. We have the same names, we both have Ansel Monroe Adams that in pictures look like twins, same migration etc.

Only problem is my John 1802 was married to Nancy Bell from 1826 through 1870. Hugh’s John b 1802(Per Flowers genealogy) married Jane Hooton in 1843 Putnam Co IN. There is a John Adams/Jane Hooton marriage, but I believe that Flowers attached the wrong wife to Hugh’s John 1802. So far my research is pointing that way. I made contact with Robert Jeffrey Flowers brother Randy who has taken over their Adams family research. He stated he thought that it was pure speculation on his brothers part regarding the John Adams/ Hooton marriage. He is supposed to be checking with his brother to see what his source is for that marriage.

If you have any proof one way or the other on how Hugh’s son John was attached to Jane Hooten I would be very interested in hearing from you. I do have the copy of the marriage record, but of course it doesn’t shed any light. I will be glad to expand on my findings so far and exchange info with you. I have exchanged info with several descendants of Hugh 1775 & Eleanor Ellett, but they don’t have much info on Hugh’s son John b 1802.

Ann do you have the names of the siblings of JAMES ADAMS born 1799 of Rockbridge VA or any other info on parents, ROBERT ADAMS and MARTHA FLETCHER?
I am looking for the parents and siblings of JOHN ADAMS born 1802 VA, evidently that part of VA that became WVA between 1860 and 1870. I really believe his parents to be HUGH ADAMS born abt 1775 in VA and ELEANOR ELLETT, but haven’t been able to prove it. The names are the same as well as the migration. They went to Pulaski Co. KY and on to Monroe Co. IN and some of them to Putnam Co. IN.

JOHN 1802 married NANCY BELL 1826 in Monroe Co. IN, and their children were JAMES H. b. abt 1828, HUGH CALVIN b abt. 1829, WILLIAM RILEY b 1831, JOHN M./QUINCY b 1835, FRANCIS MARION b abt 1837,ANCIL MONROE b 1838 and his twin sister SARAH JANE.

JOHN b 1802 was illiterate as well as HUGH born abt 1775.

HUGH born abt 1775 and ELEANOR ELLETT’S children were ANCEL, JAMES m. MALINDA JENKINS, NEIRIGH, REBECCA, JOHN b 1802, MARIAH b 1809, WILLIAM b 1811, RACHELb 1812 m WILLIAM SALES and HUGH b 1815.

Another geneolgist and I have pictures of two ANCIL ADAMS, birth dates a few years apart, but they look like twins as well as their wives.
I believe that HUGH ADAMS b 1775 (just supposition) might not have been married to ELEALNOR ELLETT, but was married to another women in VA. There was an application for marriage in Putnam Co. IN to ELEANOR ELLETT at a much later date but no return.

If you recognize any of these families I would like to hear from you. Judy judybee@publicnetworking.org
